Because reporters are drawn to conflict and controversy like bugs to a lamp, the San Francisco Chronicle published an article questioning how much a food event in San Francisco will likely move the dial in terms of our national tendency toward industrially-produced foods.
Considering the effort is led by the venerable Alice Waters — president of Slow Food USA and mother of California cuisine — and that the Bay Area is home to a serious foodie culture and an embarrassment of culinary riches, it makes perfect sense that this four-day festival should debut right here.
