When I transitioned to a new hosting provider, it was almost like evacuating before a firestorm…I left only with the clothes on my back (aka, my domain name). All my content stayed behind to burn. Granted, my former ISP offered to back up my content and images for a $40 fee. But I honestly didn’t think it was worth it for a silly side hobby. Forty dollars for a shiny new cookbook, however, is another story.
Lo and behold! My husband-barista-IT consultant suggested that I search Google and check out cached pages. And wouldn’t you believe I found a bunch of stuff! So I’m busily copying and pasting and hope to start re-building soon. It won’t look like my previous house, and a lot will be missing. But at least some of the memories will endure.
