Giving Thanks

We are getting ready for Thanksgiving next week, like most everyone else. I have much to be thankful for, despite it having been one of the toughest years of my life.

But today I am particularly thankful for a tumor count report that says things are within “normal range.” When my mom started her chemotherapy back in March her tumor count was 300 (whatever that means) and now she is at 12, which is considered normal.

Chemotherapy will continue, however, as a maintenance strategy to help prevent recurrence. But mom has gained ten pounds back, and is feeling positive and upbeat. She’s even ventured to our neighborhood park for a walk on occasion.

So as we enter the season of family and gatherings and being thankful…this is truly the best gift I can imagine.
